Performance and use

Dibutyl phthalate is a colorless transparent oily liquid, slightly aromatic, molecular formula C16H22O4, molecular weight 278.35, relative density (d2520) 1.045, with strong solubility. It has excellent compatibility with most organic solvents such as nitrocellulose and polystyrene and hydrocarbons. It is the main plasticizer for cellulose resins and polyvinyl chloride. It is especially suitable for nitrocellulose coatings. It has excellent solubility, dispersibility and adhesion. It has good softness and stability of paint film. It has good compatibility with pigments and is used for plastic products such as colored film and artificial leather. It is used as a plasticizer and softener for polyvinyl chloride, alkyd resin, ethyl cellulose and neoprene to improve the resilience of the product.
